The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is proud to announce the 14th Annual Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Conference that will take place at the Hilton East Brunswick from March 3-4, 2017.
This year’s conference will offer new and enlightening insights into building leadership skills, women’s labor history, and the fight for our economic future. This year in particular will feature prominent speakers on the subjects of organizing and leadership. Since we plan to have our nation’s first woman president in the White House, the conference will also discuss the motivating effect this historic event will have in terms of encouraging women’s leadership roles.
National Days of Action to Stop TPP: Call-In Day (Nov. 16) & Lobby Day (Nov. 30)

The labor movement is fighting to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) because working people cannot afford another giveaway to companies that have profited from shipping our jobs overseas and from exploiting both low-cost labor and lax safety/environmental standards around the world.
CD 5 Upset Would be a Major Win for Workers
Polling shows that New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District is one of the most fiercely contested races in the nation. This gives workers a golden opportunity to unseat entrenched seven-term incumbent Scott Garrett, whose lifetime record on workers’ issues is a whopping zero percent.
Scott Garrett is a Tea Party extremist who isn’t just anti worker; he has spent his time in Congress voting against women’s rights, veterans, first responders, civil rights, modernizing New Jersey’s infrastructure, and job creation. You read that right. Garrett, has cast votes in opposition to all of these issues and more. CLICK HERE to see his record for yourself.

Assembly Approves Unemployment Benefits for Striking Workers
![]() |
Today, members of the state Assembly passed S-2160/A-3819, a bill that will allow workers to access unemployment benefits after 30 days on strike or depending on the nature of the labor dispute. We thank our many affiliates and allies, who joined us in supporting this important legislation, and urge the governor to, for once, put the interests of working families first and sign this measure into law.

TAKE ACTION: Assembly to Vote on Unemployment Benefits for Striking Workers
The state Assembly is scheduled to vote this Thursday on a bill that would allow workers to access unemployment benefits after 30 days on strike or depending on the nature of the labor dispute. Take a moment right now to urge your state Assembly members to support A-3819. Far too often, workers are being taken advantage of by unscrupulous companies that use their clout to force workers into accepting unreasonable wages and working conditions.
Young Workers to Stream Clinton/Trump Debate Online
