Health Care under Siege: Contact Congress to Make your Voice Heard
Working people across the country are urging their members of Congress not to take away health care from 30 million people. The far-right wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act without providing anything close to a decent replacement, which would spell disaster.

Nothing is more important to Atlantic City’s recovery than the safety of visitors, residents, and businesses. With the threat of severe cuts to police and fire staffing levels, the New Jersey State AFL-CIO in partnership with PBA Local 24, IAFF, Teamsters Local 331, AFSCME District Council 71 and ACWCPA have launched a website and Facebook page to educate the public about the impact of the state takeover on public safety.

Urge Your State Senator to Override Christie’s Veto of Equal Pay Bill
The State Senate is expected to vote today on whether or not to override the Governor’s veto of pay equity legislation. Time and time again, Christie has stood in the way of closing the pay gap for women in New Jersey, and we need to state loud and clear that enough is enough.
CLICK HERE to contact your state Senator and urge him or her to override the governor’s veto of the Pay Equity Act (S-992).
Urge U.S. Senate to Oppose Betsy DeVos
The confirmation of Trump’s Education Secretary Nominee, Betsy DeVos, hangs in the balance. By expressing your support right now, we will continue to keep the pressure on to oppose this anti-public education nominee.
CLICK HERE to send an e-mail to your U.S. Senators, expressing your opposition to DeVos as Education Secretary.
Call Now to Stop “Right to Work” (for Less)
National “Right to Work” legislation was introduced by Republican Congressmen Steve King and Joe Wilson on Wednesday. This anti-worker policy would be devastating to wages, benefits, and the ability of workers to have a voice on the job. Despite misleading rhetoric, “Right to Work” does not enhance the rights of workers; it is designed solely for the purpose of dismantling unions.
This is a bill that threatens the foundation of the labor movement in all 50 states, and must be stopped. We need all hands on deck to defeat this bill. What you can do right now is call your members of Congress and tell them to oppose “Right to Work”. CLICK HERE for a directory of New Jersey’s Congressional Delegation.
Celebrating Black History Month: Drawing Strength from the Past to Fight for the Future
Today, Black History Month begins during a week of increasing racial and social tensions. From the Women’s March to the travel ban targeting majority-Muslim countries, we are reminded of how much work lies ahead of us in the fight for equality. At the same time, we can’t forget the progress that has been made possible thanks to the contributions of generations of African Americans who have contributed politically, scientifically, culturally and socially to improve our country. From novels, poetry and music, to essays, inventions and marches, their contributions continue to inspire us today.
