The New Jersey State AFL-CIO encourages all affiliates and community partners to join and testify in support of the $15 minimum wage bill (S-15) on Monday, May 16, 2016 in the Senate Labor Committee. Whether you testify or not, your presence at this hearing will help to demonstrate the strong support and critical need for raising the minimum wage in our state.

More than 40,000 Verizon workers have been on strike for four weeks and our efforts are taking a toll on Verizon. The incredible news coverage and public support pouring in would not have been possible without your support, and we cannot let up now.

This year marks the 24^th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive, the largest one-day food collection event in the country. To make a donation simply leave a bag of nonperishable food items by your mailbox on Saturday, May 14, 2016, and your letter carrier will do the rest.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Anne Carol Conner “Mama” Norcross, the mother of our IBEW 351 brother, Congressman Donald Norcross. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Norcross family during this difficult time.

As you all know, our CWA and IBEW brothers and sisters have been on strike at Verizon since April 13^th. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO has been in the thick of this fight and we would like to ask all affiliates to join a Verizon picket near you to strengthen the collective voice of workers battling corporate greed.

May 5^th has been declared a national day of action, and we ask all affiliates to join existing pickets, which you can find HERE, or host your own picket by “adopting a store”.
