U.S. Congressman and labor elected official Donald Norcross from IBEW 351, joined with several lawmakers on Capitol Hill yesterday to introduce a bill that would raise the federal wage from the current level of $7.25 to $15.00 an hour by 2024 and index the minimum wage to the median wage starting in 2025.

We are calling on all affiliates to provide whatever support they can to our brothers and sisters, who were locked out of their jobs more than four weeks ago by the Shore Point Distributing Company. These 113 workers are members of Teamsters Local 701 and will continue to fight for a fair contract and respect on the job.

40,000 workers at AT&T will be on strike for three days starting this Friday, May 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Workers have been at the bargaining table for months fighting for good jobs against a company dead set on lining its pockets at the expense of the workers who make them billions.

On April 14, 2017, drivers at the XPO Trenton facility voted to join Teamsters Local 701, despite the company spending thousands of dollars on union busters in an attempt to sway the election. This was a brutal and hard fought victory and management’s ongoing retaliatory actions are simply unacceptable.

HPAE, a union of healthcare professionals in New Jersey, represents 120 addiction treatment workers at AAC/Sunrise House, an in-patient addiction treatment center in Lafayette, NJ. HPAE has notified the employer of the workers’ intent to conduct a three day Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike at the facility if an agreement is not reached by May 24, 2017, at 7:00 a.m.

On May 17th, Nabisco parent company Mondelēz will hold its shareholders’ meeting in Chicago, IL. This is the city where the company decided to eliminate 600 good, middle-class jobs in order to outsource Oreo production to Mexico and exploit working families for $1 per hour.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is standing with our brothers and sisters from Teamsters Local 701 to ensure workers get the respect they deserve on the job. We invite all affiliates to join the picket line to protest the egregious actions of Shore Point Distributing Company and to demand that the company negotiate a fair agreement.

The picket line will operate 24/7 in front of the company headquarters located at 100 Shore Point Drive; Freehold, NJ 07728.

According to the “Executive Paywatch” report released by the national AFL-CIO, which tracks CEO compensation and the finances of America’s largest companies, the disparity between workers and the ultra-wealthy continues to grow.
