Today in Trenton: New Jersey State AFL-CIO teams up with Unite Here to Lobby for Hotel Employee Protection Act
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO and a delegation of our brothers and sisters from Unite Here Local 54 gathered today in Trenton to lobby on behalf of the Hotel Employee Protection Act (S-2986/A-4439)—a bill requiring hotels to provide panic buttons to employees for protection from unsafe working conditions, violence, and sexual assault while performing housekeeping duties.
Condolences to Our Union Brother Assemblyman Egan
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO would like to extend our deepest condolences to our union brother Assemblyman Joe Egan (D-17), Business Manager of IBEW Local 456 and chairman of the Assembly Labor Committee. Yolanda, his wife of nearly sixty years, passed away yesterday.

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we inform you of the death of long-time labor leader and visionary, Edwin D. Hill, President Emeritus of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Today in Trenton: Legislation Released from Committee To Preserve Call Center Jobs & Protect Hotel Employees from Sexual Assault
Two pro-labor bills supported by the New Jersey State AFL-CIO were favorably voted out of the Senate Labor Committee today. We would like to thank the sponsors of these bills and the committee members that voted in favor.

Today in Trenton: Governor Murphy Touts Support for $15 Minimum Wage
Recognizing the need for working families to receive livable wages, Governor Phil Murphy held a press conference today in Trenton to call on the Legislature to pass a $15 minimum wage bill before the end of the year.

It’s Official—All New Jersey State AFL-CIO Endorsed Congressional Candidates Have Won!
Last night, Andy Kim declared victory in the 3rd Congressional District, beating Republican Tom MacArthur and flipping a key Republican district in New Jersey. He now joins Mikie Sherrill, Tom Malinowski, and Jeff Van Drew, adding to the list of New Jersey State AFL-CIO-endorsed candidates who won open U.S. House seats that had long been held by Republicans.
