On Sunday, April 28, the New Jersey State AFL-CIO will join in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters in the labor movement to observe Workers Memorial Day—a day dedicated to those who have been killed or injured on the job and to renewing the fight for strong safety and health protections.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is pleased to announce that our Labor Candidates Program has notched two more labor candidate election victories. Romaine Graham of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 68 was appointed to fill a Freeholder vacancy in Essex County, while Jamillah Beasley-McCloed of the same Local was appointed to fill a vacancy in Irvington Council.

UNITE Here Local 54, Hard Rock reach agreement on contract for 1,780 hospitality workers
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO congratulates the officers, bargaining committee, and members of UNITE HERE Local 54 on reaching an agreement for their first contract at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This new contract entitles 1,780 Hard Rock employees to industry wages along with health & welfare and severance fund benefits.
