Union Sister Rue Ryan Wins Close Election for Lumberton Council

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is proud to congratulate our sister, Rue Ryan, a member of CWA Local 1036, for her election to the Lumberton Township Committee. Another example that every vote counts, on Election Night this election was too close to call and went down to provisional and mail-in ballots. After all the ballots were tabulated, sister Ryan was declared the winner by 9 votes!

Election Day is TOMORROW. Labor Will Get Out the Vote!

Tomorrow, New Jersey voters will go to the polls to elect a State Senator, all 80 State Assembly members, and countless county and municipal offices throughout the state.

Over the past 10 weekends, our dedicated labor volunteers knocked over 255 thousand doors to let union households know which candidates will fight for working families.  These endorsed candidates will fight for pro-labor policies every day as we build a more robust labor movement and stronger, healthier communities for all.

3 Days Left: Making the Voice of Labor Heard on Election Day

With only three days to go, this morning over 1,446 union volunteers came out and knocked on union household doors to get out the vote for one State Senate and all 80 Assembly seats, as well as 67 endorsed labor candidates.

By showing our strength on the Saturday Labor Walks and on Election Day, we make it clear that the voice of labor cannot be ignored as we fight for a stronger, fairer New Jersey for all working families.  By knocking over 43,380 doors today, labor has the momentum needed to deliver decisive victories for our Labor Candidates and endorsed politicians.

Election Day is 10 Days Out: Labor Gets Out the Word!

With all the news coming out of Washington and everywhere else, it’s easy to miss that in just 10 days, New Jersey voters will go to the polls to vote for positions from State Senate to School Boards. That’s why today, over 1,539 union members came out and talked with fellow union members to make sure that the voice of labor will be heard this Election Day.  

Today every sector of the labor movement, from the building and construction trades, to public employees, to health care, service sector, manufacturing, transportation, education and many more, all worked in solidarity to elect New Jersey State AFL-CIO endorsed candidates and 67 labor candidates.

10 of 12 Members of the NJ House Congressional Delegation are also Sponsors of the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act  (Legislation Addressing the “Janus” Decision)

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is proud to announce that all 12 Members of House of Representatives and both U.S. Senators from New Jersey are now co-sponsors of H.R. 2474 / S. 1306, the PRO-Act, which seeks to reform the nation’s outdated labor laws.  We thank Democratic Congress Members Pallone (D-6), Sires (D-8), Norcross (D-1), Watson-Coleman (D-12), Malinowski (D-7), Pascrell (D-9), Van Drew (D-2), Kim (D-3), Payne (D-10), Sherrill (D-11) and Gottheimer (D-5). Senators Booker and Menendez are also sponsors of the Senate version.

Union Members Walk for Working Families! 17 Days Left Until Election

New Jersey State AFL-CIO affiliated unions and Central Labor Councils were out again this Saturday in full force. This Saturday 1,520 union members walked to support labor endorsed candidates who are running for office.
