Our union brothers and sisters know that elections have consequences. That’s why 672 volunteers from 43 local unions weren’t deterred by damp, rainy weather on Saturday, and were out knocking on doors to inform fellow union members about the candidates seeking federal, state and local offices this November 4^th.

A total of 23,520 union households were visited on Saturday’s Labor Walk, sponsored by the New Jersey State AFL-CIO and the Central Labor Councils.

Volunteers are needed to staff the computerized predictive dialer phone stations at each of the below listed locations.  Please contact the Central Labor Council Presidents or the individuals coordinating each phone bank to commit volunteers.

Steady rains didn't deter 557 dedicated volunteers from 40 local unions, who fanned out across the state on Saturday to inform fellow union members about candidates running for state, county and local offices in the Nov. 4th election. A total of 19,495 union households were visited.

Our success in any election comes down to two key factors. First, we must get union members the facts they need to make an informed decision on Election Day. Second, we all need to get out and vote. Our weekly labor walks will ensure that both of these critical goals are met.

The addition of a new online resource page on the New Jersey State AFL-CIO website makes it easier than ever for union members to identify and learn about the candidates which their unions have endorsed for the upcoming election.

The labor movement is counting on you to ensure that we elect Cory Booker to the U.S. Senate, all endorsed Congressional candidates, 39 rank-and-file labor candidates on Tuesday, November 4th.   Every affiliated union is strongly encouraged to provide volunteers for labor walks between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon as listed below.

A record-sized class of rank-and-file union members representing 23 local unions from across all sectors of the labor movement took part in the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates School August 9-10, 2014, at the union-staffed Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center in New Brunswick.

The New Jersey Labor Movement has built the best Labor Candidates Program in the country. Rank-and-file union members have won 782 elections and now represent working families in public offices within the State Senate and Assembly, on County Freeholder Boards, in our towns as Mayors, on township committees and councils, as fire commissioners, and on school boards across the state.

We already know that our Labor Candidates School is a point of great pride for our movement here in New Jersey. One of the most satisfying parts of our jobs is watching brothers and sisters win election to leadership positions that will ensure labor is at the forefront of positive change for our state and communities.
